Mother of Mercy College of Health Technology, Mgbirichi, Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area
Mgbirichi was one of the projects visited by the Rev. Mother. After one of these visits, Rev. Mother Mary Angeleen Umesuruike, DMMM reflecting on the impacts of COVID-19 and other Epidemic on the world, envision the need to change the proposed Girl’s Model and country in health sector to address the growing Global Health Challenges through of excellent education and quality health services.
The Rev. mother after due consultation with her council. The DMMM Education Committee. Some of our members, including Sr. Maria Nathalia Amadi and Sr. Stella Maria Okorocha; as well as the archdiocesan Bishop of Owerri Archdiocese were also consulted on the new initiative regarding Mgbirichi project. Some health professionals were also approached for professional advice on way forward of the proposed project. The proposed initiative of Rev. Mother Angelin Umuezuruike was highly approved, with the new initiative, the building of the proposed school was restructured and fully equipped to meet the standard of the Community Health Practitioner Registration Board of Nigeria.
Consequently, the village Head (EZE) of Mgbirichi, the local Government Chairman of Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area, the Head of Department for Health Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area, the commissioner for Health, Imo State through the Director for Public Health, Imo State and the Community for Health Practitioners Registration Board were dully consulted for the approval of the establishment of the Mother of Mercy College of Health Technology in Mgbirichi, Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State by the congregation of Daughters of Mary Mother of Mercy (DMMM).
Prior to the commencement of the mother of mercy college of Health Technology College, Mgbirichi, rev. Mother Mary Angeleen Umezuruike, Superior General, DMMM followed due process to apply to the Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area, the Imo State Government and the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board Nigeria for the established of this Institute.
In 2021 we had the inspection visit of his Excellency, Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Imo State, the advisory visit of the community Health Practitioner Registration Board to the proposed site of the Mother of Mercy College of Health Technology. This was followed by the Accreditation visit by the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board.
During this visit, the congregation of Daughters of Mary Mother of Mercy through the superior General, Rev. Mother Mary Angeleen Umezuru, DMMM Highlighted that the aim, objective of our establishing this college include training of personnel in respect of the Growing Global Health Challenges and to produce Health Practitioners who will serve with compassion and deliver a holistic prevention care to reduce mortality rate in communities. She also stated that the proposed project will also offer services to the local Community of Mgbirichi such as Employment, development and education to the underprivileged.
In July 2021, following the accreditation visit by the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria, the proposed Mother of Mercy College of Health Technology, Mgbirichi, Ohaji/Egbema Local Government of Imo State, was approved and given Accreditation to start as a Registration College of Health Technology in Imo State. Thus, the approval and Accreditation of this Institute was obtained by the congregation of Daughters of Mary Mother of Mercy through the instrumentality of Rev. Mother Mary Angeleen Umezuruike, superior general, and her team during her tenure of office prior to the commencement of the DMMM 8th General Chapter in August 2021. To God Be the Glory!!!
The superior general and council wish to express their profound gratitude to all who in one way or the other supported the DMMM congregation to achieve the goal of establishing the Mother of Mercy College of Health, Mgbirichi, Ohaji/Egbema Local Government of Imo State. The admission of candidate to Mother of Mercy College of Health Technology, started after the Accreditation visit and approval of the established of the College by the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board Nigeria, With the successful completion of the DMMM 8th General Chapter and the Election of the new Administration led by Rev. Mother Mary Trinitas Obianike, superior general, DMMM, the Out-Going Superior General, Mother Mary Angeleen umezuruike handed over the mantle of the DMMM leadership to Rev. Mother Mary Trinitas Obianike, superior general, DMMM.
It is good to note that the Mother of Mercy College of Health Technology, Mgbirichi, Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area, Imo State started Academic Session with the First Group of Students on 25th January, 2022. .
